Dr. Maria M. Gilpin completed her undergraduate studies at Arizona State University and went on to earn her MD from the University of Arizona in Tucson, receiving an Alvin T. Kirmse, M.D. Award for “Excellence in Obstetrics & Gynecology by a Medical Student.” She has had experience in both private practice and hospital settings and is active in the regional medical community, serving on the board of directors of the Arizona Medical Association. Her professional affiliations include the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, where she is a member of the committee on Scientific Program. Dr. Gilpin has done research in obstetrical procedures, the prediction of fetal neurological outcomes based on neonatal heart rate variability, and pregnancy complications. She has published articles on umbilical cord entanglement and the attrition rate in obstetrics and gynecology. She is currently the assistant program director of the Phoenix Integrated Residency Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology, providing guidance to new physicians.
